The artist: Shosai Ikkei was a student of Hiroshige
III and did a comical series of Tokyo in the early 1870s called "Tokyo
Meisho Sanjuroku-gisen".
This print is from that series which totaled 36 views of the
the capitol city. Many of these prints depict humorous views
of Tokyo like obnoxious drunkards, people flatulating, etc.
Condition: colors quite vivid but the print has a vertical crease
from top to bottom. |
