Description: this large format print is signed and titled by Evans in the lower margins on the white mat over the image. On the reverse there are two labels. One includes the title and his address FPSA 312 So. Grand Ave, Pasadena, Cal. The other is an exhibition label from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Matte chlorobromide print, possibly toned, mounted. Condition very good
Floyd B. Evans 1890-1966:
Evans was a California art photographer
active from the 1920s through the 1960s. Mostly known
as a landscape photographer, Evans was based in Pasadena
and Los Angeles and was also a member of the Los Angeles
Camera Club. He and a band of fellow members within
this group who frequented the California dessert for
photo excursions called themselves the Pack of Rats.
Evans was also a contemporary of Edward Weston and
entered many national photo competitions. He mostly
printed in gelatin silver but was also known to use
carbro and other pigment print processes. His works
are held in many collections and museums throughout
the United States
