Description: large format portfolio of 10 varished photogravures in the original mats and cased in a Japanese style case. This was published by Nihon Shinshin Shogaiji Kyokai in 1960. These are photographs by top Japanese art photographers of the day and this portfolio was produced as a charity project to aid Down Syndrome children. The plates are printed on thick paper stock and the printing and presentation of this folio is so well done, the gravures are hard to distinguish from original gelatin silver prints. The names of the photographers are:
Shotaro Akiyama, Shihachi Fujimoto, Denjiro Hasegawa, Kiyoshi Nishiyama, Seiyo Ogawa, Koyo Okada, Kinsuke Shimada, Tokutaro Tanaka, Yoshio Watanabe, and Senzo Yoshioka.
Condition: overall quite good, but a few of
the plates have splotches caused by the aging of
the varnish. For more condition details, please inquire.
